Torera

Learn More About Post-Show Events, Childcare Matinee, and Talkbacks below. More events to be announced!

¡Viva México! 🇲🇽 We’re honoring Mexican Independence Day with a launch party for Torera — a story rooted in heritage, resilience, and comunidad. Celebrate with us as we lift up the voices and traditions that inspire this bold new play. Food and drinks provided by Playa Betty’s. Musical performance by Sara Ornelas. Let us know you’re coming!

Purchase tickets to the Matinee on October 4 and unlock a free arts workshop for your children during that performance. Drop off starts at 1:30pm for children ages 4 – 12. This workshop is taught by a bi-lingual (English/Spanish) Teaching Artist from Arts Ignite.

The Bernie Wohl Center 647 Columbus Ave.(between 91st and 92nd st)

What role do rhythm, stillness, and breath play in the ring? How do performers -both actors and toreros – channel strength and vulnerability in this art form? What does it take to embody the power of the bull and the matador onstage? Let’s explore these questions together! Join us for a post-show workshop on October 14, where we’ll chat with Skye Bronfenbrenner, Co-Movement & Intimacy Coordinator, along with Torera cast members Andrea Soto and Christian Galvis – and even try out some movements ourselves!

Join us on October 17 for Torera, and after the performance, stick around for a special talkback with playwright Monet Hurst-Mendoza, and dramaturg Kristin Leahey, who will share their insights into the play. Plus, copies of Torera will be available for purchase – grab yours and step into the ring!

Closed Captioning is available through your phone or table at performances on Tuesday and Saturday evenings. Connect with an usher for instructions. Go to the Globe Titles Website to get started.
