Pages to Stages Final Readings: The Fear of What We Know

A collection of short plays written by NYC teenagers– a cold night of peeking into the lives of mysteries untold.

Experience the culminating presentation of the Pages to Stages program, featuring four short plays written and directed by the 2026 NYCT / Van Lier viBe Fellows: Kaylani Ellington, Masani Moore, Jenna Nieves, and Annalise Rudder. The presentation will feature staged readings of these new plays performed by professional actors, followed by a conversation with the fellows about their experience with the program. Kaylani Ellington (Hey Polly)

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Kaylani works as a multidisciplinary artist of many forms. Over the years, they’ve since gained experience across performance, music, dance, visual arts, textiles, and arts institutions. Known for curiosity driven artmaking, collaboration, and creative exploration, Kaylani constantly strives to outdo themselves in any setting they’re placed in. Off the cusp of graduating from a performing arts high school just this year, Kaylani hopes to land herself more opportunities to leave her mark in the industry as they’ve always envisioned since forever. As of now, Kaylani has become a college arts student at SUNY Purchase College, committed to storytelling, experimentation, and cultural engagement!

Masani Moore (The Velvet Vow)

Masani, also better known as Nini, is a Brooklyn girl through and through, and has dreams of one day becoming a Broadway actor. She’s drawn to musical theatre for the way a single song can move an entire audience, and she’s determined to be that magic on the stage. When she isn’t working hard at being an actress, she enjoys writing her own fictional stories and building entire worlds with her own worlds. Whether she’s rehearsing or writing, she’s always creating and chasing the stage.

Jenna Nieves (My Dad is a Vampire)

Jenna was born and raised in the boogie down Bronx, and is bringing that flow into her writing. She gets inspiration from fantasy, sci-fi, dark comedy shows and movies from Black Mirror to Coraline. She hopes to achieve a surrealistic viewpoint from her plays while also maintaining a satirical balance, close to how she describes herself as a person. Jenna enjoys making others laugh and cry with the joys and sadness of the real and fantasy world.

Annalise Rudder (Achieving the Dream)

Annalise Rudder, a young woman from New Orleans, is driven by a profound passion for caring for others. Her journey is deeply intertwined with her family’s history, which began in Trinidad and Tobago. Through unwavering hard work, love, and determination, her family built a life they could be proud of, laying a strong foundation for Annalise to pursue her dreams. As one of four sisters, she is fortunate to have a loving and supportive mother who continues to inspire her every step of the way.
Annalise’s story is a testament to the power of love, family, strength, and purpose. Growing up surrounded by the unwavering support of her mother and sisters, she has been shaped into the person she is today. Her desire to care for others stems from the compassion that resides within her heart and the values instilled in her by her family. With a vision of making her family proud and creating a meaningful future for herself, Annalise is determined to leave a lasting impact on the world.
