Artist Vignettes with COLLAPSE actor Nadia Bowers
We sat down with actor, Nadia Bowers, and asked her to share a few of her favorite things with you…
Favorite NYC pastime:
By myself: trolling my favorite thrift stores for good finds, then eating at Veselka. Not alone: bike rides all around and over bridges with my boyfriend.
Best neighborhood restaurant:
Scalino on 7th Ave. in Park Slope. Great relaxed vibe, terrific food. A standby.
Cocktail hotspot:
My stoop in Brooklyn.
Theater that’s inspired you lately:
I really loved “Belleville” by Amy Herzog at NYTW. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time which I find rare. They all did such a wonderful job conveying this bubbling dread under the characters’ efforts toward normalcy. And “The Flick” by Annie Baker. She has so much love and respect for her characters no matter how flawed. Her plays are a beautiful, human event.
Who’s on your fantasy dinner party guest list?
Off the top of my head – Joni Mitchell, Mary Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Prince, Patti Smith, Stevie Nicks, cartoonist and journalist Joe Sacco, Louis C. K., Terry Gross
What’s on your playlist for walking around NYC?
Right now, lots of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks as I just saw them at Madison Square Garden! But it runs the gamut from Russian balalaika music to Rickie Lee Jones to Led Zeppelin- my favorite song for the gym right now is their song “When the Levee Breaks.” It’s raining today and that always means Joni Mitchell’s “Hissing of Summer Laws,” preferably on vinyl if I’m at home.
Dream holiday destination:
A place I’ve never been: Bali. A place I have been: Positano on the Amalfi Coast.
A quote you love:
“The eye was placed where one ray should fall, that it might testify of that particular ray.” – from Emerson’s Self-Reliance.
What are 5 facts about you that would surprise your theater friends?
1. I was a cheerleader in 8th grade.
2. I played rugby in college: second row scrum.

4. I like to jump on my collapsible (like how I’m using the name of our play in this?) trampoline as a warmup at home before auditions and performances.
